The Mariavall Abbey in Sweden is Dom Hans van der Laan’s last realisation. The design for this Benedictine abbey started in 1986. The church and the part for the sisters was realised in 1991, the year that Van der Laan died. He never saw its completion.
The design analysis is based on the drawings and extensive communication with Rik van der Laan, who was Dom hans van der Laan’s right hand in the design of this convent.
